THIS SITE
The GeauxPerio was originally developed for resident use only to provide an online reference for mobile study. As periodontists we have studied the classic periodontal and implant literature. This was blended with clinical training to provide a strong foundation of knowledge in our specialty. Literature study of current and historical scientific papers form the basis of everything we do in our specialty. The training is extensive and exhaustive and prepares the periodontist for clinical practice and for successfully passing their board exams.
The mission of the site has expanded. It is offered to the entire LSU Perio family and includes modules for reviewing current relevant literature through access to our Journal Club and for studying to help prepare for ABP Board Re certification. The perio department relies heavily on the support of our alumni base to maintain the quality of education through their generous donations. The GeauxPerio site’s main purpose now is to recognize this support and to give back something tangible and useful to our donors.
PURPOSE
- To provide an online reference for periodontists and residents with abstracts comprising a classical periodontal and implant literature. The content is organized by topic and also by seminar number.
- To provide an online source of study for periodontists preparing for board examinations and recertifications.
- To provide abstracts of current periodontal and implant literature in a journal club format to help keep practicing doctors up to date.
- To provide current residents with an online reference for their practice management class.
- To highlight examples of 3rd year residents case work.
Literature Content in Abstract Form
Our classic literature review from the 2016-2017 academic year is presented in two forms. Both are searchable with a search engine. Two listings are presented. The first is our current seminar in the order that it is presented to the residents.

Board Recertification
Every six years, diplomates of the ABP are reexamined based on pertinent literature recently identified by the ABP. Our website catalogs abstracts from the ABP’s reading list and serves as a study guide for reexamination. The ABP reading list changes from time to time and The GeauxPerio re-certification module will save the busy periodontist countless hours by not having to find these references on their own.

Journal Club
Approximately 7 times during the academic year current periodontal and implant journals are reviewed. 18 articles of interest are selected for abstracting and are discussed.
